Study N.13 depicts an unknown man intensely reading the newspaper inside a cafe in Bath, United Kingdom. This photograph was the catalyst for The Absorbed Tradition, and accompanied Heck's written preface in the book described here: "Excuse me, I'm lost. I'm sitting in an old cafe in Bath, next to an old man who appears to be consuming the events of a world he no longer understands. And I can sympathize."
